Our Story

Flealess Hound Pub newspaper story

We are four friends who share a love for great food, delicious drinks, hosting friends, spending time in the Okanagan, and dogs (not necessarily in that order). So naturally that led us to open a pub. But why the name?

We wanted our place to be a celebration of the region, so, as many British pubs have done, we looked for unusual history as inspiration. And we found it.

In 1935, newspapers across Canada reported on a strange phenomenon: in Oliver, there seemed to be no fleas. As one paper put it, “Oliver is the paradise of dogdom. Here the flea is unknown.” And voila, the name was born.
